TO BOOK RECORDED EXAMS

There are 2 forms of recorded exam
RECITAL GRADE  and  PERFORMANCE GRADE

In both Recital and Performance grades,
4 pieces are required to be performed:

Choose an exam of either:
1) all solo pieces
2) all backing track pieces
3) a mix of solo and backing track pieces
4) 3 pieces plus all rudiments for the particular grade


Equivalent grade pieces from other boards may be substituted
(drum scores must be provided)

No supporting tests are required for Recital or Performance Grade examinations.                                                                                                     

 

 

RECITAL GRADE EXAMINATION

Pieces may each be a separate recording, 
each labelled with the candidate's name and title of the piece to be recorded.

Candidate to:
State their name at the start of each recording,
State the name of each piece prior to playing it.

Although recordings are examined by our specialist examiners under the same strict conditions as all other Percussion Academy examinations,
they do not attract Ofqual accreditation or UCAS points.

PERFORMANCE GRADE EXAMINATION

The entire exam must be recorded in one continuous recording.
The recording must be labelled with the candidates name and grade being taken.
Candidate to:
State their name at the start of the recording,
State the name of each piece prior to playing it.

MARKS DISTRIBUTED AS FOLLOWS:
Pass: 55-69
Pass with Merit: 70-84
Pass with Distinction: 85-100 


VIDEO EQUIPMENT
A smart phone/tablet is sufficient. preferably with a camera setting of 720 pixels (medium quality).
The camera should be positioned to give a side view of the kit if possible.
Both the candidate and the instrument should be clearly visible at all times during
the recording.

INSTRUMENT
An acoustic kit is preferable but an electric kit is acceptable. 
Where an electric kit is used, allowance will be made for the limitations of the instrument i.e. rim shots, bell work etc..
Any brush work must be seen on the video
The kit must be played through an amplifier and clearly audible on the recording.
